Writer & Social Media Activist

Your internship with Sports+Travel magazine will branch into multiple aspects of the business. Writing will play a major role of your job but will not always be in the same format. Your job will entail you to write for social media, the magazine, proposals and other areas. This will provide you with an understanding and practice for different writing styles such as business and editorial writing. You will also be required to facilitate in other areas of the business. This can include scouting and contacting distribution locations for the magazine or assisting in sales activities.

 

Main Job Tasks:

Social Media Management: This includes posting on Facebook and Instagram daily with the objectives to engage audience and increase awareness, assisting in the management of social media campaigns for clients, pitching ideas and plans to connect with our online audience in new and exciting ways. 

Online Writing: Will be required to write short features about travel related news or products, which are designed to be shared on the website blog or social media (50-500 words). 

Print Writing: Research and write long-form travel or sports related stories that will be printed in the magazine (500-2000 words)   

Distribution Management: Scout for ideal locations in Singapore where the magazine could be distributed. You will be required to develop and maintain relationships with the people who distribute our magazine. 

Other Job Tasks: This may include jobs that will not happen on a day to day or week to week basis. These can include entering information on excel spread sheets, attending press releases and launch events, assisting with marketing at conventions etc. 

 

Skills and Qualifications:

Diploma in Communications, Media, or a Related Field; Previous Media or PR Experience, Outgoing Personality, Interpersonal Skills, Persuasiveness, Confidence, Customer Service, Maintaining Relationships, Listening, Resilience, Creativity, Adaptability, Organisation, Detail-Orientated, Multi-Tasking, Reliability
