China Visa-Free Stopover
China has adopted visa-free programmes for travellers transiting through various Chinese cities for 24-hour, 72-hour and 144-hour stopovers. The 24-hour visa exemption is fairly easy with nearly all nationalities being able to receive the exemption. The 72-hour visa-free entry is available at 18 cities (including Beijing and Shanghai), while the 144-hour visa-free entry is only available at 4 cities (including Shanghai and Guangdong). To qualify, passengers have to be in transit to a third country, including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
